Best refurbished phones under ₹15,000 in India: four picks, and what each one gives up

Four refurbished phones on the GradeGuard shelf cost under Rs 15,000 right now, from Rs 5,975 to Rs 12,239. Here is what each one does well, what it gives up, and why Rs 15,000 buys less new than it did a year ago.

Best refurbished phones under ₹15,000 in India: four picks, and what each one gives up — GradeGuard guide

Four phones on the GradeGuard shelf cost under Rs 15,000 today. Below is what each one does well, what it gives up, and the exact price on the product page — no ranges, no “starting at”.

Every phone named is a refurbished unit listed on this site right now, at the price shown, read off the product pages on 21 September 2026.

Rs 15,000 buys less new than it did a year ago

The budget end of the Indian market has been squeezed hard this year. Research firm IDC put India’s average smartphone selling price at a record $315 in the April–June quarter of 2026, up 14.4% on the year, while shipments fell 11.1% to 33.2 million units (as reported by Outlook Business).

The pain was concentrated at the bottom. Phones under $100 fell 74.3% year on year and their share of the market dropped from 15.6% to 4.5%, with brands pulling back on entry-level launches and discounts to protect margins against rising memory costs (IDC, via TelecomLead).

That is the backdrop. At this price, a refurbished phone is often the only way to get 5G, a 120Hz screen and a big battery together.

The four, side by side

Tecno Spark Go3 Pro 128GB — Burgundy RedRs 12,239No6.78-inch HD+, 120Hz5,200mAh

All four sit on the refurbished mobiles shelf. HD+ means about 720 x 1600 pixels — sharp enough for WhatsApp, UPI and YouTube, not as crisp as the full-HD screens that start above Rs 15,000.

Motorola G45 5G — Rs 8,962 — the safe all-rounder

This is the pick for most people. Motorola launched the g45 5G in India in August 2024 at Rs 10,999 for 4GB/128GB and Rs 12,999 for 8GB/128GB (FoneArena). It runs a Snapdragon 6s Gen 3, has a 6.5-inch HD+ 120Hz screen under Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a 50MP main camera, a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging and an IP52 splash rating.

The part that matters most at this price is software life. Motorola promised one Android upgrade and three years of security updates from launch, which carries patches into 2027. Ours is the Brilliant Blue 128GB unit at Rs 8,962.

What it gives up: the screen is HD+ LCD, not AMOLED; 18W charging is slow by 2026 standards; IP52 handles a splash, not a dunk.

Lava Bold N2 5G — Rs 10,439 — battery life and clean software

Lava launched the Bold N2 5G in June 2026 at ₹12,999, but that was the 4GB/64GB version — the 128GB unit on our shelf is the larger configuration (GSMArena). It has the biggest battery of the four at 6,000mAh with 18W charging, a 6.75-inch HD+ 120Hz LCD, a 6nm Unisoc T8200 chip and an IP64 rating. Lava sells it on stock Android 16 with no bloatware and no ads (ETV Bharat) — for a lot of buyers that alone is worth the gap over the Motorola.

Lava’s launch variant was 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. Storage and RAM differ by configuration, so read the spec block on the product page before you order rather than assuming.

What it gives up: the Unisoc chip is built for everyday apps, not heavy gaming; the 13MP rear camera is basic; at 210g it is the heaviest phone here.

Tecno Spark Go3 Pro — Rs 12,239 — the one built to survive water

Tecno launched the Spark Go 3 Pro in August 2026 at Rs 15,999 for 4GB/64GB and Rs 16,999 for 4GB/128GB, with open sales from 4 September (GSMArena). Its headline feature is IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance — IP69 covers high-pressure, high-temperature water jets, which is rare anywhere near this price. It also has a 6.78-inch 120Hz screen, a 5,200mAh battery, dual DTS-tuned speakers and an infrared blaster for controlling a TV or an AC.

What it gives up: no 5G — this is a 4G phone, so skip it if you are on a 5G plan and want to use it. RAM is 4GB. One more honest note: the published specs do not agree on the chip inside. GSMArena lists a Unisoc T7250, while ETV Bharat reported a MediaTek Helio G81. Check the About phone screen on the unit you receive.

Lava Bold N4 Lite — Rs 5,975 — a first phone or a spare

Lava launched the Bold N4 Lite in August 2026 in a single 3GB/32GB version, on sale from 3 September. The launch price is reported two ways — ETV Bharat says ₹8,099, GSMArena says ₹7,999 (ETV Bharat). It has a 6.56-inch screen, a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging, Android 16 Go with two years of security updates promised, MIL-STD-810H drop certification, a side fingerprint reader, a 3.5mm headphone jack and FM radio.

Think of it as a calls, WhatsApp and UPI phone: a first handset for a school-age child, a simple one for a parent, or a spare kept charged in a drawer.

What it gives up: nearly everything else. 4G only, 3GB RAM, 32GB of storage (add a microSD card on day one), Bluetooth 4.2, slow charging and simple cameras. Android Go is a trimmed-down version of Android made for low-memory phones, so heavy apps will feel slow.

Just over the line: Motorola G57 Power 5G at Rs 15,119

If your ceiling has ₹119 of give in it — ₹408 for the Corsair, this is the stretch worth making. The Moto G57 Power was announced in November 2025, and GSMArena lists it at Rs 20,999 for 8GB/128GB. It brings a 6.72-inch full-HD+ 120Hz screen at 1,050 nits peak brightness, a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, a 7,000mAh battery that GSMArena lists at 30W/33W wired charging and Android 16 upgradeable to Android 17 (GSMArena). Ours are listed at Rs 15,119 in Fluidity and in Regatta, and Rs 15,408 in Corsair.

Old flagship or recent budget phone?

Most “under Rs 15,000 refurbished” lists are built from four-year-old flagships. Those phones really do have better cameras and better screens. The trade runs both ways, though.

  • A 2021 flagship gives you an AMOLED panel and a stronger camera, but its security updates have usually ended or are close to ending, and its battery has had four more years to age.
  • A 2024–2026 budget phone gives you a plainer screen, but years of patches still to come and a shorter life behind it.

Whichever way you go, find out when that model’s security updates end before you pay. And if the words on a listing confuse you — renewed, open box, pre-owned — our guide to what each of those words means in India sorts them out.

What the price includes, whichever one you pick

  • A 41-point bench check before the unit is listed.
  • A grade that describes cosmetic condition, defined precisely on our condition grading page, with the flaws on that individual unit written on the product page.
  • Six months of warranty, and seven days to ask for a replacement.
  • Free delivery to every pin code in India.
  • Cash on delivery only. No advance, no COD fee.
  • The IMEI of the exact handset we send, printed on your invoice, so you can run the free government check yourself — here is how the CEIR IMEI check works.

One thing no spec sheet can promise on any used phone, from any seller: a battery is a consumable part, and every battery ages with time and use. Budget for a replacement somewhere in the life of a cheap phone and treat that as normal, not as a fault.

When the parcel arrives, do not just switch it on and forget it. Our first ten minutes with a refurbished phone checklist covers what to test while the seven-day window is still open.

Common questions

Which is the cheapest 5G phone under Rs 15,000 on GradeGuard?

The Motorola G45 5G 128GB in Brilliant Blue, at Rs 8,962. It runs a Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 with a 6.5-inch 120Hz screen and a 5,000mAh battery, and Motorola promised three years of security updates from its August 2024 launch.

Is the Tecno Spark Go3 Pro a 5G phone?

No. It is a 4G phone. Its selling point is IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance, which is unusual at this price, but if you want to use a 5G plan you should pick the Motorola G45 5G or the Lava Bold N2 5G instead.

Do these phones come with a warranty?

Yes. Every unit carries six months of GradeGuard warranty and a seven-day replacement window, whatever the price. Delivery is free to every pin code in India.

How do I know the phone is not stolen or blocked?

The IMEI of the exact handset sent to you is printed on your invoice. Run the free government CEIR check yourself with that number before the seven-day window closes. Our step-by-step guide at /ceir-imei-check-india/ shows what a clean result and a bad result look like.

What does the grade on the product page tell me?

The grade describes cosmetic condition only, and each grade is defined by something measurable on the /condition-grading/ page. Flaws on that individual unit are written on the product page as well.

Do I have to pay anything before the phone arrives?

No. GradeGuard is cash on delivery only. There is no advance, no online payment step and no COD fee added to the price.
