Warranty Policy
Every device sold by GradeGuard carries a 6-month warranty from the date of delivery. This page states exactly what that covers, what it does not, who carries out the repair, and how long a claim takes. Read the exclusions before you buy — they are short and they are real.
Published under Rule 7(1)(a) of the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, which requires an inventory e-commerce entity to provide accurate information on “return, refund, exchange, warranty and guarantee, delivery and shipment, cost of return shipping, mode of payments, grievance redressal mechanism”.
What the warranty is
- Length: 6 months from the date the courier marks the parcel delivered, or from the date of the cash bill if you bought at the Lucknow shop.
- Scope: a seller’s warranty given by GradeGuard. It is not a manufacturer’s warranty. Apple, Samsung, Dell, HP, Lenovo and the rest do not honour warranty on a refurbished unit sold by us, and we do not imply that they do.
- Who it belongs to: the original buyer named on the invoice. It does not transfer if you resell the device.
- Cost: nothing. No charge for the claim, no charge for pickup, no charge for return delivery.
- Accessories in the box — cable, adapter, earphones where supplied — carry 30 days, not 6 months.
What is covered
Functional failure of the device that was not caused by the user, specifically:
- Motherboard and logic-board failure — the device will not power on, restarts on its own, or fails to boot
- Charging port, and charging failure generally
- Display panel failure that is not caused by impact — dead pixels, lines, touch loss, backlight failure
- Speakers, earpiece and microphones
- Front and rear cameras
- Power, volume and home buttons, and the fingerprint sensor or Face ID module
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and cellular radios
- Battery: covered if, within the 6 months, it swells, will not charge, or the device shuts down while charge is still showing. Gradually shorter backup is normal ageing and is not a fault.
- Laptops and desktops additionally: storage drive failure, RAM failure, fan and thermal failure, keyboard and trackpad, hinge failure not caused by force, and the ports listed on the product page
What is not covered
- Physical damage after delivery — a new crack, chip, dent or bend that was not on the condition photographs taken before dispatch.
- Liquid damage. If the liquid-damage indicator has changed colour, the warranty ends there. Every unit ships with an untriggered indicator and we photograph it.
- Normal battery ageing. A lithium battery loses capacity with use, so gradually shorter backup is not a fault. A battery that swells, will not charge, or shuts the device down with charge still showing is covered.
- Software — operating-system updates, app crashes, data loss, viruses, a forgotten passcode, or a change in behaviour after an OS upgrade.
- Account locks you create — iCloud Activation Lock or Google FRP triggered by your own account or a passcode you have forgotten. We ship every device clear of both; we cannot remove a lock tied to your credentials and no one legitimately can.
- Any repair, opening or part swap by anyone we did not appoint. A broken warranty-seal sticker ends the warranty. If a local shop has already opened it, we cannot take the claim.
- Rooting, jailbreaking, custom ROMs, bootloader unlock, or BIOS modification.
- Consumables and cosmetics — scratches, scuffs, colour fade, worn rubber feet, the supplied cable or adapter after 30 days.
- Loss or theft. The warranty covers the device, not your possession of it.
- Network and SIM problems that are your operator’s, including a band your operator does not run in your city. Supported bands are listed on every product page — check them before ordering.
Extended warranty (optional)
At the Protect step of checkout you can add 6 more months of cover to a phone, laptop or desktop, for 12 months in total. It is optional and paid on delivery with the rest of your order.
- The same coverage and the same exclusions as the standard 6-month warranty on this page, continuing for a further 6 months.
- It covers the one unit it was bought with, identified by the IMEI or serial number on your invoice, and cannot be moved to another device.
- It is priced at about 5% of the device price, and is not offered on foldable phones.
- If you return the device within the 7-day window, the extended warranty is refunded along with it.
Who actually does the repair
This matters, so it is stated plainly rather than buried. GradeGuard does not operate an in-house repair bench. We test and grade in Lucknow; we do not carry out component-level repair ourselves.
A warranty claim is serviced in one of two ways:
- Through the supplier who refurbished the unit, under our own purchase terms with them; or
- Through an independent service partner we appoint and pay, where the supplier route would be slower.
Either way the contract is between you and GradeGuard. You never deal with the supplier, you never pay the service partner, and “the supplier is delaying” is not an answer you will get from us — if the chain is slow past the deadlines below, the remedy shifts to us. What we will not do is pretend a repair happened on our own bench when it did not.
How to make a claim
- Email contact@swizzwatches.com. Send: your order number, the IMEI or serial number on your invoice, and a short video showing the fault. The video saves a round trip; a claim without one takes longer, not less.
- We acknowledge within 4 working hours and give you a ticket number. Quote it on everything after that. (Rule 7(1)(f) of the E-Commerce Rules requires a ticket number you can track the complaint against — this is it.)
- We arrange free reverse pickup from your address, or you walk into the Lucknow shop. Either way you pay no freight in either direction.
- Inspection within 2 working days of the unit reaching us. If the fault is excluded above, we tell you before anything is done and we return the device free.
- Repair or replacement. Standard turnaround is 7 to 14 working days from pickup, including transit both ways.
- If we exceed 21 working days, you choose: an equivalent replacement unit of the same model, storage and grade or better, or a full refund of what you paid. No argument, no restocking deduction.
Back up your data first. A warranty repair usually involves a wipe. We do not copy, keep or recover data from a device sent in for service, and we are not able to restore what was not backed up.
Repeat failures
If the same fault comes back twice after repair, we stop repairing it. The third claim is settled by replacement or refund, at your choice.
What this does not take away
This warranty is in addition to your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Nothing on this page limits your right to approach a Consumer Commission, the National Consumer Helpline on 1915, consumerhelpline.gov.in, or to file at edaakhil.nic.in. Our escalation ladder is on the Grievance Redressal page.
Separately from warranty, every order has a 7-day replacement window that covers “this is not what was described” as well as faults.
