Frequently Asked Questions
The questions people actually ask before buying a used phone or laptop online, answered without marketing. Where an answer is inconvenient for us, it is still the answer.
About the devices
Is this a new phone?
No. Every device on this site is used. It has had at least one owner before you, it is not sealed by the manufacturer, and we will never call it new, “unboxed”, “like new”, “as good as new” or “0 cycle”. What we sell is a used device that has been tested against a written check sheet, graded against a published standard, and sold with its grade and named flaws printed on the page.
What does “refurbished” actually mean at GradeGuard?
It means the device passed a 41-point bench check, was wiped to factory settings, and had any failed part replaced — with the replacement disclosed on the listing, including the month it was fitted. It does not mean the device was restored to factory condition. Cosmetically it is a used item, and the grade tells you how used.
Is the display original?
It says so on every product page, in one of three words: original manufacturer panel, OEM-grade replacement, or aftermarket. If a part was replaced, the month it was fitted is printed next to it. On iPhones, a non-genuine display or battery triggers Apple’s “Unknown Part” notice in Settings — where a unit has one, the listing says so before you buy, not after you notice it.
How do I know the phone isn’t stolen?
We do not ask you to trust us on this. The IMEI of the exact handset we dispatch is printed on your invoice, and the Government’s CEIR database is free, public and takes under a minute. If a unit comes back blacklisted, duplicated or already in use, refuse the parcel or tell us within seven days and we replace it at our cost.
Check it yourself, free, in under a minute: dial *#06# to get the IMEI, then enter it at ceir.gov.in, or SMS KYM <15-digit IMEI> to 14422. Do this on any used phone from anyone, including us. Our step-by-step guide: CEIR IMEI check.
Will the IMEI on the invoice match the phone I receive?
Yes, and that is the point of recording it. The IMEI of the exact handset we dispatch is written onto your invoice and shown in your account. It is never published on the product page, because a public IMEI can be used by any stranger to file a false lost-or-stolen report on CEIR and get your phone blocked. A mismatch between invoice and device is grounds for immediate replacement.
Will it work on Jio, Airtel and Vi? Does VoLTE work?
Every unit is attached to a live Indian SIM on the bench before listing, and the supported network bands are printed on the product page. Check those bands against your operator in your city before ordering — a band your operator does not run where you live is the one thing we cannot fix, and it is not a warranty fault. Where a unit is an imported variant with different band support, the listing says so plainly.
Will it still get software updates?
That depends entirely on the manufacturer’s support window for that model, not on us. An older flagship may already be past its last OS update. We state the OS version shipped on the product page; whether more updates arrive is the manufacturer’s decision and we will not promise you one.
Does it come with the original box and accessories?
Usually not. Most units arrive without their retail box. Unless the listing says “original box included”, your device ships in protective GradeGuard packaging with a compatible charging cable, and an adapter where one is listed. Anything included is itemised on the product page — if it is not itemised, it is not in the parcel.
Why don’t you show photographs of the exact unit I’ll receive?
Photographing every individual unit to catalogue standard would slow listings to a crawl. So the gallery is representative of that model and grade, and the written condition data — grade, panel origin, named flaws — describes what you will receive. We do photograph every individual unit from six angles before dispatch, against its IMEI; those images are the reference for any return dispute, and you can ask us for yours.
Paying and delivery
Why is cash on delivery the only option?
Because for a used device bought from a shop you have not visited, paying after you are holding the parcel is the strongest position you can be in. There is no gateway on this site at all — no card, no UPI, no net banking, no wallet, no EMI. It costs us money to run this way, and it removes every “we’ve paid, now we’re waiting” conversation.
Is there really no delivery charge, COD fee or GST added at checkout?
Really none. Delivery ₹0 to every pincode in India, COD collection ₹0, handling ₹0, and no tax line added at checkout because prices are inclusive of all applicable taxes. The number on the product page is the number you hand to the delivery agent. If an agent asks for anything more, refuse the parcel and tell us.
Can I buy on EMI?
No. EMI requires a card or a lending partner and a payment gateway, and we have none. Cash on delivery is the only method.
Do you deliver to my pincode?
All 28 states and 8 union territories, every serviceable pincode, with no minimum order and no conditions. There is no pincode checker on this site because there is no pincode we turn away. If a courier genuinely cannot reach your address, we tell you before you order rather than after.
How long will it take?
Dispatch within 2 working days of the confirmation call. Then: Lucknow 1–2 working days; rest of UP and the metros 2–4; other cities and towns 4–7; North-East, J&K, Ladakh, Andaman & Nicobar, Lakshadweep and remote rural pincodes 7–12. Full table on the Shipping & Delivery Policy.
Why do you call me before dispatching?
Because nothing has been paid yet, and a five-figure cash parcel sent to an unverified address is how a small business loses a month of margin. The call takes under a minute and confirms three things: the model, the address, and that someone will be there with the cash. If we cannot reach you in three attempts across two working days, we hold the order and e-mail you — we do not cancel it silently.
Can I open the parcel before paying?
Courier policy is that payment comes before the parcel is handed over, and no seller can override that. What you can and should do: inspect the outer packaging, and refuse it outright if it is torn, re-taped or crushed — you pay nothing for a refused parcel. Then record an unboxing video in one unbroken take, starting with the sealed parcel and the label visible. Ninety seconds of video settles any missing-item or wrong-item claim instantly. That, plus the 7-day replacement window, is the protection that actually works.
After you buy
What if it arrives dead or isn’t what was described?
Tell us within 7 days of delivery and we replace it. We pay the freight in both directions, there is no restocking fee, and if no replacement unit exists we refund you in full within 7 working days of the unit clearing inspection. Transit damage is the one case with a shorter clock — tell us within 48 hours, because couriers close those claims fast. Full detail: Returns & Replacement.
Can I return it just because I changed my mind?
No. The 7-day window covers faults, transit damage and “not as described” — not a change of heart about the model, and not cosmetic wear that falls inside the published grade. That is why each grade is defined by viewing distance and the marks it allows, not by a label alone: so you know before you order, not after.
You can cancel free at any time before the parcel is delivered, including refusing it at the door.
What exactly does the 6-month warranty cover, and who repairs it?
It covers functional hardware failure you did not cause — motherboard, charging, display failure without impact, speakers, mics, cameras, buttons, biometrics, radios, and a battery that swells, will not charge, or shuts the phone down with charge still showing. It does not cover physical damage, liquid damage, software, or a lock created by your own account.
We do not repair in-house and we do not pretend to. Warranty work is carried out by the supplier who refurbished the unit, or by an independent service partner we appoint and pay. We handle every part of the logistics and we carry the outcome: if the chain takes longer than 21 working days, you get a replacement or a full refund, your choice. Full terms: Warranty Policy.
Do I get an invoice? Is there GST on it?
Yes, a proper invoice with your name, the device, the IMEI or serial number, the date and the amount. It ships with the parcel and it is in My Account. Prices on this site are inclusive of all applicable taxes, and no tax is added at checkout — so the invoice total equals the price you saw. Refurbished goods are sold under the GST margin scheme, which is why a separate GST line is not shown against the sale price; the tax sits inside the price. Our GSTIN is printed on the invoice that ships with every device.
How do I track my order?
Track your order with the order number from your confirmation e-mail, or track by phone number if you checked out as a guest and cannot find the e-mail. If you created an account, it is all in My Account. Tracking can sit unchanged for 24–48 hours between hubs — that is normal. No scan for 4 working days, e-mail us and we chase the courier.
Something’s gone wrong and nobody is fixing it. What now?
Escalate, and you do not need our permission. The named Grievance Officer, the 4-working-hour acknowledgement, the 12-day resolution commitment and the route to the National Consumer Helpline on 1915 are all on the Grievance Redressal page. You can also file at edaakhil.nic.in before the District Commission where you live — you never have to travel to Lucknow.
The shop, your data, and selling to us
Can I come and see the device before buying?
Yes, and we would rather you did. Shop No. 123, 1st Floor, Regency Road, Vibhuti Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow 226010, Monday to Saturday 10:00–19:00. Tell us the listing a day ahead and the unit will be on the counter, powered up, with its check sheet. Directions and what you can do at the counter.
Will you buy my old phone or laptop?
Often, yes — that is where a good part of our stock comes from. Send the model, age, storage, battery health and clear photographs, and you get a firm quote within one working day. We pay in cash at the Lucknow counter after inspection; the quote only changes if the device is not what the photographs showed. Details: Sell your old device.
What happens to my personal data?
We hold your name, address, phone, e-mail and order — nothing more, because there is no payment gateway here and we never see a card, a UPI ID or an OTP. Your data goes to the courier who delivers the parcel and nowhere else without a reason we will tell you. You can demand access, correction or erasure at any time by e-mailing contact@swizzwatches.com with the subject “DPDP request”. Full notice, written against the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023: Privacy Policy.
Is there advertising on this site? Will it follow me around?
There is advertising on our guides and articles only. There is none — none at all — on the shop, any product page, the cart, the checkout, order tracking, your account, the order confirmation, or any policy page. That is enforced in code with ads denied by default, not by a setting somebody could flip by mistake.
Still stuck?
E-mail contact@swizzwatches.com and you will have a reply from a person within 4 working hours, Monday to Saturday.
